The Red Bioclima project has recently launched the Bioclima citizen science application, a pioneering app in Spain that allows users to track the phenology of common plant species in our ecosystems.
Through this app, users can document changes in the life cycle rhythms of plants resulting from climatic variations, known as phenology. This enables the analysis of climate change impacts and the strategies adopted by species to adapt to these changes. Collecting a substantial amount of data is crucial for this purpose, and citizen contributions play a fundamental role. Anyone with a smartphone can join the project by noting the dates when the first flower opens, the first fruit appears, or when the leaves begin to fall.
The Bioclima app is available for free download on Android and IOS devices.
Additionally, an original music video promoting the app and the citizen science project has been uploaded to CIDE’s YouTube channel. A series of videos about the project will soon be available on YouTube.
