Las week Francesco, Clara and Héctor went to the 68th Annual Symposium of the International Association for Vegetation Science (IAVS): Understanding Ecosystems through Vegetation, which took place un Gijón. The symposium brought together researchers from around the world to discuss the latest advances in vegetation science and ecosystem ecology. During the meeting, our group presented three of our recent studies on ecological stability.
Héctor presented his work entitled “Extending community stability metrics to account for directional changes in species abundance and composition”. Clara gave a talk on “Metapopulation spatial synchrony decreases the potential for metacommunity stability”. Finally, Francesco presented “Intraspecific trait variability within and across generations: assessing its role in coexistence and stability”.

It was a great opportunity to share our research, exchange ideas with colleagues from around the world, and learn about the latest developments in vegetation science. For instance, we had the chance to meet Vigdis Vandvik and Tomas Herben from the LOTVS team and to join the first meeting of the IAVS Plant Community Dynamics Working Group.
Besides, we had the chance to visit the beautiful city of Gijón!
