I have been involved in several courses, mainly related to functional traits. Among these I have been the main lector, together with Matty Berg first, and then with Lars Gotzenberger of part of course “The use of trait based approaches in community ecology and stress ecology” The course is taught roughly every 2nd year at the University of Coimbra in collaboration with Prof. Paulo Sousa. I have been the main lector of the course “Functional traits in Ecology”, taught at University of the South Bohemia every second year since 2009. I am co-organizer of the “Quantitative Ecology” module for Master and PhD students taught at University of the South Bohemia in Czech Republic every second year. Within this module we also teach the course “Creative publishing”, resulting in various publications led by the students (we give data to students who have to analyse it and prepare a manuscript for submission).
The next international course will be the 4th edition of the “Functional trait diversity: calculating and interpreting a key component of biodiversity”, which will be organized online in February 2026 in collaboration with Carlos Carmona.
