Finally, this week we have completed this year’s Bioclima Network fieldwork. This marks the sixth consecutive year of the proyect, but the first led by our technicians Alejandro Valls and Daniel Echeandía. They were supported by other CIDE technicians and our interns: Beatriz, Ruth, Nicolás, Athina, Marta, Mario and Rubén. We are very grateful for their invaluable help, without which this work would not have been possible.
Between 9 March and 28 July we have sampled 66 plots across 20 Natural Parks in the Valencian Community. At each plot, we recorded the plant species present and downloaded data from the temperature and humidity sensors installed on site. We hope to continue this project for many years, as our goal is to build a long-term dataset that will allow us to study changes over time.
The end of this year’s fieldwork also marks the end of Alejandro’s and Nicolás’s time with our group. Alejandro Valls was hired to help us with the Bioclima Network and his contribution has been crucial. Nicolás has been with us for six months, completing both curricular and extracurriculal inthernships. He has helped us throughout all the Bioclima Network project, but also with all the previous work, mainly with the Taxus baccata proyect we explained in another news post some months ago. We wish them both all the best in their future careers and hope to see them again soon!
