Our colleagues Leyre Pedrós and Clara Gracia from our research group have had the opportunity to attend the Postgraduate Course in Quantitative Ecology in Czechia, held at University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. This course brought together a diverse community of international students, mainly PhD students, in a dynamic and collaborative learning environment.
During their stay, they had access to a wide range of specialized courses in ecology, from advanced statistical methods to multivariate analysis and community ecology. A particular highlight was the innovative Creative Publishing course, where they immersed themselves in creating scientific articles from real research data. In fact, one of these articles is currently under review by a recognized journal!
In addition, every Tuesday they had the opportunity to attend stimulating seminars with guest researchers from different universities, followed by lively discussions at the local pub.
They also had the opportunity to explore the culture and natural beauty of the region, from exciting excursions to Croatia and Austria to enjoying Czech hospitality at lively university festivals, with local legend Jan “Suspa” Lepš as a featured host!
In summary, the experience was enriching academically, culturally, and socially.
